Following our Intuition through Fruitation

Have you ever decided to just grab for something? To hold on to something, taste something, absorb something? Perhaps it was the need to grab for the phone after dreaming about a loved one. Or maybe it was the feeling of a season that made you want to taste the harvest of that time in place. I often find that in Fall, our intuitions, intentions, and goals for the year bring themselves forward-causing us to either indulge, quiet down, or find a balance in between. The Fall asks us to enjoy the fruit, the harvest, the season of life before the winter months of rest, renewal, and the juxtaposing, conditional realities of harsh weather, or perhaps family dynamics.

So tonight when I grabbed for that lemon to add to my water, I knew it was because there was an element in that lemon that could help a number of things that I am going through (some of those issues are listed below, and perhaps you too are dealing with one if not more of the issues). It was an intuitive awareness, carried through by the ancestral lines pulsing through my blood. The lesson, of needing lemon in my diet, also taught and reminded me of the undoubted truth that food is medicine and thus, medicine is food.

And it is this time of year, magical time of year, where the native, tribal fire comes alive in us. That inner flame comes to life to those of us who had listened to our elders, had watched how food was made close to the fire and had observed the craft and magic of cooking, tasting and enjoying in the bounty of life. Tonight, the reach or need to add lemon zest, flavor, and essence to my water allowed me the opportunity to ponder and be outwardly curious about how a food, a biological wonder, could help my life process.

So curious about this intuitive call, I looked inside my essential-oils-mini-book (made by Aroma Tools) to discover all the wonderful healing properties lemon adds to an array of conditions. Here are many of the various things that lemon helps to soothe, remedy or acutely work toward healing or altering:
  • Cleansing
  • Depression/Postpartum Depression
  • Grief/Sorrow
  • Overeating
  • Stress
  • Anxiety
  • Water Purification
  • (To provide an uplifting) Mood
  • Kidney stone

As the season of autumn unfolds itself, may it be an opportunity for one to rekindle that inner fire to taste, to absorb, and to grab onto the flavors of harvest time. May one find ways to feed the soul, so that natural, intuitive self can cultivate ways to renew and put to rest. This is the time of year that many people gather all that they have collected to prepare for a rest in order to make something new. Zest up life with lemon or whatever one's intuitive taste buds are calling for. One may be surprised, for it could be that lone taste that can help heal whatever is speaking within.Try zesting up teas, the kitchen, skin, or the sense of smell with the buzz of whatever is calling the appetite.

Enjoy in all the fruitfulness of the harvest season and see what happens to the feeling of personal happiness.
